Ever want to go Cavern or Cave diving? We will be going down to central Florida for some Cavern and Cave diving October 2nd through the 8th. 

TDI Cavern Diving

Are you a serious adventure seeker wishing to explore overhead environments? Sign up for the TDI Cavern Diver course! This course is designed to develop the minimum skills and knowledge for cavern and overhead environment diving within the limits of light penetration, and outline specific hazards associated with cave diving. The cavern diver course in not intended to provide instruction for cave diving environments. The objective of this course is to train divers in the proper planning, procedures, techniques and hazards of cavern diving.

TDI Cavern Diving Course Standards and Procedure

TDI Intro to Cave

This course is an introduction to the basic principles of cave diving utilizing a single primary guide line. Introductory cave diving is the second level in the development of proper techniques for cave diving, directly building upon the cavern diver course. This introduction to cave diving is not intended to train divers for all facets of cave diving. The objective of this course is the perfection of skills taught in the cavern diving program, in addition to the adoption of additional techniques and procedures required for elementary cave dives.

For the training we are going to start taking a 50% non-refundable deposit for the appropriate level of training. Full payment will be due September 2nd. If you plan on using a credit card there will be an additional 3% fee, we want to keep the costs as low for everyone. If paying by check or credit card there will be no fee. 
 
We have a house booked at Suwannee River Rendezvous that can accommodate 7 people, and we can always add more houses: 

  • A private home, that has a large covered patio area in the back. Complete with a picnic table and a fire ring for nightly fires. 
  • A great room large enough for all the rowdy divers. 
  • A kitchen that has all the pots and pan, dishes, glasses, silverware that you should need. It has full size stove and fridge. The kitchen also has a mircrowave, toaster and coffee pot with coffee!

    •  All of the homes come completely equipped with dishes, silverware, pots, pans, microwave, flat screen TV, and WiFi.  They provide fresh linens, trash bags, and toilet paper. 
    • We will be staying in at house at Suwannee River Rendezvous.

    • The house has a full kitchen available.

    • It is a 12 1/2 drive to Florida and will be around 860 miles.

    • We will use Cave Excursions for air fills, below is their pricing, which is subject to change. 
      • 32% – $.10 / cu ft
      • 50% = $.16 / cu ft
      • 21/30 – $.50 / cu ft
      • 10/50 – $.65 / cu ft
      • O2 – $.30 / cu ft
      • He – $.94 / cu ft
      • Air – Single tank – $4, Double tanks – $7

Required Gear

Cavern Course

  • Regulator with SPG and alternate air source, primary mounted on a 7’ hose.
  • BCD with power inflator
  • Exposure suit adequate for the cavern environment
  • Mask and fins, NO snorkel
  • Line cutting device
  • Safety reel with a minimum of 125 feet of guideline
  • One primary cavern-diving reel with length appropriate for intended dive
  • Two battery powered lights, each with burn time suitable for the planned dive time
  • Computer or bottom timer and depth gauge
  • Slate or wet notes
  • Submersible dive tables or backup dive computer
  • Three directional line arrows
  • Weight system

Intro to Cave

  • Primary cylinder(s); volume appropriate for planned dive and student gas consumption
  • Dual-orifice (Y) or (H) closed valve or dual valve manifold
  • Two independent first stage regulators; one regulator equipped with a long hose at a recommended minimum length of 7 feet
  • SPG
  • BCD with power inflator
  • Exposure suit adequate for diving environment
  • Mask and fins, NO snorkel
  • Line cutting device
  • Three battery powered lights; 1 primary and 2 back-ups, each with a burn time suitable for the planned dive time
  • Safety reel with minimum of 125’ of line
  • One primary cave-diving reel with length appropriate for intended dive
  • Computer, watch or bottom timer and depth gauge
  • Slate or wet notes
  • Submersible dive tables or backup computer
  • Three directional line arrows.
