What is TDI?

TDI is the largest technical diving certification agency in the world. An innovator of new diving techniques such as mixed-gas diving and rebreathers, TDI provides training in specialized diving programs previously unavailable to the general public. Such training has given divers the opportunity to see otherwise unreachable wrecks such as the Andrea Doria, Lusitania, and the Prince of Wales. TDI certified divers have also explored underwater caves around the world and assisted as support divers for record-breaking freedives.

To ensure quality training, TDI professionals are held to the highest standard. All TDI instructors have documented experience and knowledge to support their title. Candidates training to be TDI instructors should expect to have trainers that have reached the highest level of training.

TDI stands by its commitment to offering the highest quality training with the support of the most current information and materials.

TDI Intro To Tech

The TDI Intro to Tech course gives students a basic understanding of the world of technical diving. It is designed as an overview for the TDI Advanced Nitrox course and the TDI Decompression Procedures Course. The objective of this course is to familiarize students with technical equipment configurations, enhance open water diving skills (buoyancy, trim, and situational awareness), and introduce students to advanced gas-planning techniques within a no-decompression context. This course is strictly a no-decompression course. Students are permitted to use enriched air nitrox (EAN) mixes, provided the gas mix is within their current level of certification.

Prerequisites:

  • Must be at least 18 years old (or 15 with parental consent)
  • Must have an SDI Open Water Scuba Diver certification or equivalent
  • Must provide proof of 25 logged open water dives

Course cost is $150, not including academics.

TDI Nitrox

TDI Nitrox is an entry-level certification course for recreational divers learning to use enriched air nitrox (EAN) as a breathing gas. The objective of this course is to train divers in the benefits, hazards, and proper procedures for using nitrox mixes from 22-40% oxygen content.

Course cost is $140, not including academics.

TDI Advanced Nitrox

The Advanced Nitrox course examines the use of EAN with 21-100% oxygen for optimal mixes to a depth of 40 meters (130 feet). The objective of the course is to train divers in the benefits, hazards, and proper procedures for utilizing EAN (21-100% oxygen) for dives not requiring staged decompression. TDI Decompression Procedures or Intro to Tech may be combined with this course at the discretion of the instructor.

Course cost is $400, not including academics. Includes 4 dives with an instructor and 100 minutes bottom time.

Decompression Procedures Diver

The Decompression Procedures Diver course examines the theory, methods, and procedures of planned stage decompression diving. This program is designed as a standalone course, or can otherwise be taught in conjunction with TDI Advanced Nitrox. The objective is to train divers how to plan and conduct a standard staged decompression dive not exceeding a maximum depth of 45 meters (150 feet). The most common equipment requirements, equipment setup, and decompression techniques are presented.

Prerequisites:

  • Must be at least 18 years old (or 15 with parental consent)
  • Must have TDI Nitrox Diver or equivalent certification
  • Must provide proof of 25 logged open water dives

Course cost is $400, not including academics. Includes 4 dives with an instructor and 100 minutes bottom time.

*If this course is taught in conjunction with the TDI Decompression Procedures course, the minimum age is 18.

PLEASE NOTE...There is an option to combine the Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures courses for $700.

Extended-Range Diver

The Extended-Range Diver course provides training and experience required to competently utilize aid for dives up to 55 meters (180 feet) that require staged decompression, utilizing nitrox mixtures or oxygen during decompression. The objective of this course is to train divers in the proper techniques, equipment requirements, and hazards of deep air diving to a maximum of 55 meters (180 feet) with nitrox mixtures or oxygen for staged decompression.

Prerequisites:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must be certified as a TDI Advanced Nitrox Diver and TDI Decompression Procedures Diver, or equivalent
  • Must provide proof of 100 logged dives, out of which 25 dives must be deeper than 30 meters (100 feet).

Course cost is $800, not including academics. Includes 6 dives: 2 > 100 ft, 4 > 130 ft.

Solo Diver Certification

The solo diver program teaches experienced recreational divers how to safely dive independently of a dive buddy or strengthen your buddy team skills. The course emphasizes proper dive planning, personal limitations, and accident prevention as well as the benefits, hazards, and proper procedures for diving solo. Students also learn about the additional equipment required for solo diving, including proper usage and assembly.

Prerequisites:

  • Must be 21 years old
  • Must be certified as an SDI Advanced Diver or equivalent
  • Must provide proof of 100 logged dives

Course cost is $180, not including academics.

Trimix Diver

The TDI Trimix course provides the training required to competently and safely utilize breathing gases containing helium for dives that require staged decompression, utilizing nitrox and/or oxygen mixtures during decompression to a maximum depth of 60 meters (200 feet). The objective of this course is to train divers in the benefits, hazards, and proper procedures of utilizing custom oxygen/helium/nitrogen mixtures as breathing gases. Gas mixes are not to have any less than 18% oxygen.

Prerequisites:

  • Must be 18 years old
  • Must be certified as a TDI Advanced Nitrox Diver and TDI Decompression Procedures Diver or equivalent
  • Must provide proof of a minimum of 100 logged dives

Course cost is $700, not including academics. Includes 4 dives and 100 minutes bottom time.

Advanced Trimix Diver

The TDI Advanced Trimix course provides the training required to safely utilize breathing gases containing helium for dives that require staged decompression, utilizing nitrox and/or oxygen mixtures during decompression to a maximum depth of 100 meters (330 feet). The objective of this course is to train divers in the benefits, hazards, and proper procedures of utilizing custom oxygen/helium/nitrogen mixtures as breathing gases.

Prerequisites:

  • Must be 18 years old
  • Must be certified as a TDI Extended Range Diver or entry-level Trimix Diver or equivalent
  • Must provide proof of 100 logged dives, out of which 25 dives must be deeper than 30 meters (100 feet)
  • Must provide proof of prior experience with double cylinders and any other specialty equipment such as a dry suit

Course cost is $700, not including academics. Includes 4 dives (2 > 180 feet) and 100 minutes bottom time.
